“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”
— Robert Frost

The difference a second makes

Next time you feel yourself rising in anger and ready to strike, bite your tongue, take a deep breath and silently count to 20. This technique has saved many a person from speaking in anger things they later come to regret.

Above and beyond

Do today what others won’t, so you can live tomorrow like others can’t.

Never say you can’t

Published in Daily tips at December 2nd, 2007 (1)

“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you are right.”
— Henry Ford

Never say you can’t. Instead, turn that negative statement into a question. Instead of saying, “I can’t afford it!”, ask yourself, “How can I afford it?”. Instead of saying “I can’t quit my job and do what I love!”, ask yourself, “How can I quit my job and do what I love?” - When you turn your can’t into a question, you’ll always find an answer.

“Watch it, scumbag!”

Published in Daily tips at November 29th, 2007 (0)

Never act unkindly towards someone on the basis of “oh, I’ll probably never see them again!” - Life has a funny way of changing that. The person who may or may not have accidentally cut you off in traffic could end up being a future client, friend, family, or even someone you know already. Negative actions and words have an ironic way of coming back to you.

You are: Now Here

When it comes to making key changes in your life, it is vital to implement those changes right away. Not “someday”, “tomorrow”, or “soon”, but right now.

Too many of us wait for someday—and for many of us, someday never comes. Make today your “someday”. Do something you’ve been putting off. Make those changes you always said you would.

The time is now, and the future is here.

The physical-emotional connection

Published in Daily tips at November 25th, 2007 (1)

Your physical body greatly influences your emotions and feelings. If you want to feel happy, straighten your posture, look up and smile. Conversely, it is impossible to grin and get angry - try it!

Fix yourself first, others later

Published in Daily tips at November 22nd, 2007 (0)

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”

- Matt. 7:1-5 (NIV)
